Snyder's managed that meatgrinder for quite some time now, I can't help but respect him. With all the moving details and cooks involved, it's an impossible task. That said, it's hard to make a movie, it's harder to make a good one and it's even harder to break into Hollywood, handle a big blockbuster and close to impossible to make that blockbuster good. Even if his philosophy could only amount to "fuck bitches, get paid" - it's still vastly more complex and genuine than where Snyder's coming from. If you watch any of the behind the scenes documentaries of Bay's movies - he's genuinely enjoying himself and what he does, and loves promoting it all.

And his additions are usually superficial and kinda 90s edge lord stuff.Įven Michael Bay, his most common comparison, genuinely loves sportscars, explosions and Victoria Secret models. He associates himself with things he says are cool, but it comes off as very disingenuous cause he's always trying to improve them or be ironic about it, like he's above it. Doesn't have any philosophy or much to say about anything.

I think he's got some technical skills, can make things feel like they're on a grand scale, but, generally, I always get the impression of him that he's not very interesting as a person.
